With the support of SETPE | TechSaloniki, the landmark event for the technology sector in Thessaloniki, celebrates ten years of dynamic presence this year, having established itself as the key platform connecting technological talent with the labour market. On the occasion of its 2026 anniversary edition, which will take place on 22 and 23 May at the Port of Thessaloniki (Warehouses C and D, and the Museum of Photography), TechSaloniki is moving forward — with the support of the Association of Hellenic Information Technology Enterprises (SETPE) and the Thessaloniki Innovation Zone, as well as with the scientific contribution of Deloitte — with a systematic mapping and assessment of the digital and technological ecosystem of Northern Greece.

The aim of this initiative is to map the companies operating in the Information and Communication Technologies sector at both local and wider regional level, with particular emphasis on software development and digital services. The process will capture the scope of activities, workforce, growth prospects and business needs, while also examining the perspective of professionals in the sector. In parallel, with the scientific support of Deloitte, the initiative will undertake, for the first time, a systematic assessment of the economic footprint of the technology sector in the region, highlighting its contribution to economic growth and competitiveness.

Objectives and Expected Benefits

• Systematic mapping of the structure, size and maturity level of the technology ecosystem in Northern Greece.
• Creation of a reliable database to support the strategic planning of policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the sector.
• Identification of challenges, needs and growth opportunities that will contribute to shaping a more favourable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.
• Strengthening the interconnection between businesses and ecosystem stakeholders, with the aim of developing new collaborations and synergies.

The findings of the mapping exercise, which will be presented during the anniversary edition of TechSaloniki in May 2026, are expected to serve as a valuable tool for gaining a deeper understanding of the sector’s dynamics and to contribute to highlighting the growth prospects and collaboration opportunities within the region’s technology ecosystem.
