The Association’s renaming was approved by its General Assembly of members, highlighting the pivotal role of AI.

The annual General Assembly of SETPE’s members approved the Association’s renaming from “Association of Information Technology Enterprises of Greece” to “Association of Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology Enterprises of Greece”, following a relevant proposal by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Anastasios Manos.

With this decision, which was taken yesterday, Monday, the Association retains its established and widely recognised acronym (SETPE), while explicitly incorporating Artificial Intelligence into its official name.

The renaming reflects the new reality taking shape in the Information Technology sector, as an increasing number of companies are incorporating Artificial Intelligence solutions, applications and projects into their portfolios. AI has now emerged, by common consensus, as a critical technological driver, influencing software development, digital services, business models and the overall strategy of technology companies.

With its new identity, SETPE renews and expands its institutional role, placing at the centre of its public presence the collaboration, promotion and growth of companies operating in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Information Technologies and Software Development. At the same time, it undertakes the promotion of initiatives that contribute to the advancement of the Artificial Intelligence and IT sectors, as well as to the information, education and professional and scientific training of its members.

The value of Artificial Intelligence now extends far beyond the boundaries of the technology sector. From healthcare, education and industry to public administration, agriculture, energy, transport and the financial sector, AI is emerging as a key driver of productivity, innovation and competitiveness. In this context, SETPE’s timely and institutionally structured presence in the field of Artificial Intelligence represents a strategic choice with long-term benefits both for its members and for the ICT sector as a whole.

“The inclusion of Artificial Intelligence in our name is not a symbolic move. It is the recognition of a reality that our member companies are already experiencing. SETPE is consolidating its presence at the forefront of technological developments, with the aim of supporting its members and making a meaningful contribution to the country’s digital transformation. By explicitly retaining the reference to Information Technologies, we ensure the continuity and coherence of our identity, which has been built over more than three decades,” said the Chairman of SETPE’s Board of Directors, Anastasios Manos.

It is noted that the admission of new members to SETPE remains open to companies operating in one or more of the aforementioned fields – regardless of whether they are involved in Artificial Intelligence projects or exclusively in Information Technology and Software Development projects – with full equality of rights and obligations among all its members.
