Strengthening EKETA’s i-mile research infrastructure with smart traffic management equipment from the DOTSOFT-EUR.ELEC Consortium
As part of the project “Supply of Equipment for the Closed Experimental Roadway (i-mile) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) Institute for Sustainable Mobility and Transport Networks”, the Consortium “DOTSOFT Integrated Information Technology Solutions S.A. – EUR.ELEC. Ltd” undertook the supply of specialised field equipment for monitoring traffic conditions and enabling real-time traffic management.
The procurement was carried out on behalf of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and concerns the enhancement of the i-mile research infrastructure, which supports the development, testing and evaluation of advanced technologies in the fields of sustainable mobility, intelligent transport systems and traffic management.
As part of the project, the following equipment was delivered:
- seven (7) traffic monitoring and measurement camera systems,
- thirty-four (34) magnetic traffic counters,
- three (3) traffic controllers,
- twenty-five (25) wireless transceivers for magnetic vehicle detection sensors,
- seven (7) wireless interface units for magnetic vehicle detection sensors.
This equipment contributes to the collection, monitoring and utilisation of real-time traffic data, supporting the research activities of the closed experimental roadway and creating the necessary technological foundations for the implementation of advanced traffic management solutions.
Through the implementation of this procurement, CERTH’s ability to evaluate innovative technologies related to road safety, traffic optimisation, infrastructure connectivity and the development of intelligent transport systems is further enhanced.
The Consortium’s participation in the project confirms its expertise and experience in the implementation of complex technology infrastructures, with a focus on innovation, reliability and the utilisation of digital solutions in critical areas of transport and mobility.
About the project
The project forms part of the initiative to strengthen CERTH’s research infrastructures and is funded under CERTH 2.0, with contributions from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the European Union – NextGenerationEU, the Public Investment Programme and CERTH’s own resources.
