Cosmos Business Systems, in collaboration with Dell Technologies, successfully hosted a landmark event on Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure for Greece 2030, held on the sidelines of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) at the Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki.

The event brought together representatives from the State, Local Authorities, the academic and research community, the technology market, and the productive economy—highlighting the critical need for Greece to transition from fragmented digital applications to integrated, secure, scalable, and sustainable Artificial Intelligence infrastructures.

The discussion was moderated by journalist Maria Samolada, while a key highlight was the fireside chat with the Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou, which focused on the role of the state, national digital infrastructure, the prospects of AI, and the challenges of the coming decade.

Additionally, in a brief welcome address, the Deputy Minister of Labor, Mr. Konstantinos Karagkounis, highlighted the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the labor market and the implications of its rapid expansion and implementation.

The first thematic session, titled "National AI Strategy: From Digital State to AI-Enabled State," featured Nikolaos Tzollas, Vice Regional Governor of Digital Governance for the Region of Central Macedonia; Dimitris Giantsis, General Manager of Projects at Information Society S.A.; Aleksander Preradovic, General Manager & Chairman of Dell Technologies; and Alexandros Kourtis, Sales Director Public Sector at Cosmos Business Systems. The panel focused on the transition from a digital state to one that actively leverages Artificial Intelligence for the benefit of citizens, public administration, and the economy.

The second session, titled "The Technological Foundation of Artificial Intelligence: Compute, Data Centers, Cloud & Cybersecurity," highlighted the critical technological prerequisites of the new era. The panel featured Dimitris Katsianis, Vice President of GRNET; Giorgos Seleliadis, Operations Executive at FHL I. KYRIAKIDIS; Christos Georgiou, Director of Information Technologies at the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB); and Kostas Angelakopoulos, Advisory Systems Engineer at Dell Technologies. Discussions centered on computing power, data centers, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and the vital need for resilient systems capable of supporting real-world AI workloads across both the public and private sectors.

The third thematic session, titled "Universities, Research, and the Productive Economy: The Greek AI Ecosystem of 2030," featured Dr. Ioannis Antoniadis, Vice Rector of the University of Western Macedonia; Dr. Konstantinos Diamantaras, Vice Rector of the International Hellenic University; Dr. Grigorios Tsoumakas, Professor of Computer Science specializing in AI at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH); and Dimitris Daphnis, President & CEO of Cosmos Business Systems. The panel emphasized the critical importance of interconnecting universities, research centers, private enterprises, and technology providers to build a robust Greek Artificial Intelligence ecosystem. Discussions highlighted the need for synchronized alignment between academia and the private sector, as well as the imperative of cultivating a new generation of high-caliber scientific talent to drive the country's AI transition.
