Two-day event organised by SEPE for the

4η 4th Industrial Revolution and innovation

 

A two-day event, within the framework of the European co-funded projects “4th Industrial Revolution” and “Inno-Ecosystem”, will be organised on 22–23 November in Thessaloniki by the Association of Hellenic Information Technology Enterprises (SETPE), with the support of the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH).

Specifically, on Wednesday, 22 November 2023, from 10:00 to 14:00, and Thursday, 23 November, from 10:00 to 13:00, at the Porto Palace Hotel & Conference Center (Dock Six room), events will take place featuring engaging talks by distinguished scientists and presentations on the two aforementioned projects, both coordinated by SETPE as the lead partner.

During this two-day event, which will be conducted in English, the partners of the aforementioned projects from Greece, Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia will participate, informing the audience about their activities and the results of their interventions.

The participation of speakers Dimitris Kyritsis (EPFL, CH/UiO, NO), Thomas Knothe (Fraunhofer IPK, DE), Usman Wajid (Dr Usman Wajid, ICE, ES-UK) and Nenad Ivezic (NIST, USA) will also be significant, as they will present and discuss key topics related to the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Furthermore, during the two-day event, the Digital Summit 2023 of the Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece (SEPVE) will take place, aiming to promote the activities of its members and strengthen networking among IT companies.

The Digital Summit 2023, which will be conducted in Greek during the afternoon hours from 17:00 to 20:00, is aimed not only at IT companies but also at businesses from other sectors seeking partners for products and services, as well as academic and research institutions, and representatives from the business community who wish to stay informed about the latest developments in the IT sector.

The European co-funded project “4th Industrial Revolution” (4th Industrial Revolution), coordinated by SETPE as the lead partner, is a comprehensive set of actions aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs in the eligible area of the INTERREG V-A Greece–Bulgaria 2014–2020 Cross-Border Programme, with:

  • Increasing access to new funding instruments, enabling SMEs within the cross-border area to expand their business activities.
  • Developing processes for knowledge exchange, enabling SMEs and entrepreneurs to tackle future challenges.
  • Establishing a network for the 4th Industrial Revolution in the cross-border region.
  • Adapting new tools, practices and methods, enabling SMEs to develop innovative and, consequently, competitive products and/or services.
  • Providing information on the main technological changes related to the 4th Industrial Revolution.
  • Identifying workforce needs regarding up-to-date technological knowledge.

The project involves, as partners, the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) from Greece and the Regional Chamber of Skilled Crafts Association (Haskovo) from Bulgaria.

Additionally, the European co-funded project “Inno-Ecosystem”, coordinated by SETPE as the lead partner, focuses on developing an innovation ecosystem to support employment opportunities for young IT talent. The project has been approved under the IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme “Greece – Republic of North Macedonia 2014–2020.

The “Inno-Ecosystem” project aims, among other things, to:

  • Strengthening and supporting cross-border innovation and entrepreneurship by offering opportunities and a wide range of possibilities to young IT talent, such as skills development activities, connections and networking with companies interested in either employing them or supporting their business ideas, provision of co-living/co-working spaces for entrepreneurs, startups, freelancers and digital nomads, promotional activities, networking events, and professional engagement opportunities through a digital IT ecosystem registry.
  • Promoting an innovation-driven culture in the cross-border region by applying new tools that lead to youth employment, networking startups, organising hackathon events that attract young IT talent, and exchanging experiences through technology-focused meetings.
