PRESS RELEASE | SETPE’s ICT Networking Event Brings the IT Community Together | Focus on Key Issues Facing Software Companies in the Tech Ecosystem

The ICT Networking Event of the Hellenic Association of Information Technology Enterprises (SETPE) was successfully held on Monday, 8 September 2025, at the Allegro Hall of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, as part of the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair.

The evening provided an opportunity for members of the Association to network, share ideas, and engage in discussions, with a focus on the priorities and challenges confronting Greek software companies.

The initiative by SETPE attracted senior government and local authority representatives, who engaged directly with representatives from software companies, start-ups, ICT executives, and members of the research and academic community, all sharing the common goal of enhancing outward engagement and leveraging technological capabilities in cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, GovTech, and smart cities.

The event was honoured by the presence of, among others, Mr Konstantinos Gioulecas, Deputy Minister of the Interior (Macedonia–Thrace); Mr Stavros Kalafatis, Deputy Minister of Development; Ms Anna Efthymiou, Deputy Minister of Labour & Social Security; Mr Nikos Papaioannou, Deputy Minister of Education; and Mr Stratos Simopoulos, Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki A’. From local government, Mr Nikos Tzollas, Deputy Regional Governor for Digital Governance of Central Macedonia, and Mr Paris Billias, Deputy Regional Governor for Infrastructure & Networks of Central Macedonia, participated. The event was also honoured by the presence of Ms Viktoria Kalfaki, Head of Public Sector Greece & Cyprus, Google Cloud.

SETPE’s objective has been — and remains — to establish a steady channel of communication between the state, technology enterprises, and social stakeholders, aiming to highlight Greek software companies as a driving force for economic and social development. The ICT Networking Event served precisely this purpose, within an environment open to collaboration and strategic partnership.
