The Hellenic Network of Cities for Development (DEPAN), in collaboration with DOTSOFT, is implementing the project “Digital Transformation of the Municipality of Preveza”.

With this project, DOTSOFT’s collaboration with the Municipality of Preveza, which began in 2021, is further expanded. The initial collaboration focused on urban mobility (traffic) monitoring systems, waste management and energy management systems, which were integrated into the central smart city data management platform, Smartiscity.

The collection and analysis of data from the central platform is carried out with the aim of generating insights that support integrated decision-making based on governance indicators. The platform collects data, manages functionalities from individual “smart” applications and provides services to both citizens and municipal staff.

The new actions to be implemented under the current project include the installation of seven smart, accessibility-friendly pedestrian crossings at selected locations across the Municipality, aiming to improve road safety, enhance accessibility and create a safer and more modern urban environment. The project also includes the expansion of the Central Platform through the integration of the new actions implemented by the Municipality.

The “Smart” Pedestrian Crossing system will automatically detect the presence of pedestrians using AI-based vision technology, dynamically activating the visual warning systems. At the same time, the system will provide a range of driver alert mechanisms for vehicles approaching the pedestrian crossing, drawing their attention in a way that ensures a smooth and non-disruptive response.

Beyond enhancing road safety, each smart pedestrian crossing will operate as a multifunctional urban data hub, incorporating microwave technology sensors (radar) and environmental sensors to collect real-time traffic and environmental data.

These data will be integrated into the Municipality’s Central Data Management Platform, enhancing its ability to monitor, analyse and support data-driven decision-making.

Through the implementation of these two actions, DOTSOFT S.A. reaffirms its role as a strategic technology partner in the digital transformation of local authorities.

The expansion of the collaboration with the Municipality of Preveza strengthens a long-term plan for sustainable development, technological innovation and the improvement of citizens’ quality of life.
