Cyprus acquires a national digital health application through Gnomon Informatics’ eHealthPass platform
Gnomon Informatics SA, a pioneering company in the field of digital health, following an international tender process, undertook, in collaboration with the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta), the project “Creation, Implementation and Maintenance of a National Mobile Health Services Application System for Cypriot Citizens (myHealth@CY)”.
More than 1.3 million citizens of Cyprus will be able to access their health data directly and securely through the myHealth@CY application, which is based on Gnomon Informatics’ eHealthPass digital health platform.
The tender was conducted by the Cyprus National eHealth Authority (NeHA), ensuring that, in line with EU guidelines, Cypriot citizens will have access to a wide range of digital health services, which will also be provided across borders through the European interoperable mobile health services application currently under development.
myHealth@CY will serve as a unified application, providing citizens with easy access to digital health services and tools related to their health, with the ultimate goal of promoting prevention and enabling more effective health management. The technical solution will be based on the eHealthPass™ digital health platform developed by Gnomon Informatics, which will be further extended to support the project’s required functionalities.
Gnomon Informatics, in collaboration with Cyta, undertakes the implementation of a complex project with a contractual duration of eight years.
Through the application, citizens will have access to:
- Access to their health data
- Information on health services (hospitals, approved doctors and pharmacies on duty)
- Updates from the Ministry of Health and relevant organisations
- The ability to control how their health data is accessed and used by the General Healthcare System (GeSY) and other healthcare providers in Cyprus.
The following services will be provided to the Cyprus General Healthcare System (GeSY) and healthcare providers:
- A digital tool enabling the immediate dissemination of information to citizens or members of organised groups (e.g. blood donors, cardiac patients, etc.).
- The ability for healthcare providers in participating European countries (cross-border services) to gain immediate access to a health summary of application users.
- More effective management and monitoring of potential future public health crises.
Implementation of Infrastructure and Applications
To provide the above services, the myHealth@CY mobile application will be implemented, leveraging Gnomon Informatics’ eHealthPass™ digital health platform. The project will also include the implementation of a geolocation-based Panic Button service, as well as a user authentication mechanism for the myHealth@CY application.
In addition, a service for sending personalised notifications to users and/or user groups through myHealth@CY (push notifications) will be developed, along with a service that will enable the system to manage application users.
