Gnomon Informatics Implements North Macedonia’s National Digital Health Strategy
Gnomon Informatics S.A., a pioneer company in the field of Digital Health, has undertaken, as the leader of a consortium, the highly significant project for the implementation of North Macedonia’s national Digital Health strategy.
Through this project, Gnomon Informatics, a leading European provider of interoperability solutions in the eHealth sector, enters the North Macedonian market while simultaneously opening up opportunities across the Western Balkans, further expanding its outward-looking European presence.
The project “Upgrade of the Electronic Health System”, with a budget of €1.3 million and a duration of 18 months, is funded by the European Union under the Health Initiative 2024. Gnomon Informatics undertook the project following a tender launched by the European Commission, with the main objective of upgrading Digital Health capabilities and developing a national strategy and Action Plan with a horizon extending to 2030.
For the implementation of the project, Gnomon Informatics S.A. leads a consortium of three companies. The consortium includes, as a strategic partner, ASEE DOOEL, an IT company and member of the European Asseco Group, as well as European Innovation Solutions (E.In.S.), a consulting company listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, acting as a subcontractor.
Through this project, Gnomon Informatics undertakes the integration and interoperability of digital health information, which is currently maintained across separate databases and reporting processes. The ultimate goal is to address structural challenges and establish the necessary policy, organisational and technical conditions for the seamless, standards-based exchange of data.
Operational Objectives and Outcomes
The project will deliver four interdependent outcomes that together will form the foundation of a modern digital health ecosystem:
- Digital Health Strategy 2026–2030 and Action Plan – an integrated policy and implementation framework defining national priorities, governance structures and funding mechanisms, fully aligned with EU and WHO digital health strategies.
- IT Interconnection between the Health Insurance Fund and the Ministry of Health, enabling secure and rapid data exchange.
- ERP Standards and Prototype for Public Healthcare Organisations – a unified framework for administrative, financial and human resources management, improving efficiency and transparency in service delivery.
- Laboratory Standardisation based on LOINC – adoption of international coding systems enabling data consistency across institutions and integration into the European Health Data Spaces.
