DataScouting undertakes the digitization of the Thessalian Theatre archive.
DataScouting has undertaken the digitization of the valuable, historical archive of the Thessalian Theatre. The contract was signed by the Chairperson of the Board of the Thessalian Theatre, Rita Aprilis, and the representative of the contractor company DataScouting, Anastassios Avramis, in the presence of the Mayor of Larissa, Apostolos Kalogiannis, the Deputy Mayor, Georgios Soulti, and the Artistic Director of the Theatre, Kyriaki Spanou.
The project includes:
- Installation, customization, and configuration of the Thessalian Theatre’s Integrated Digital Repository Information System.
- Digitization – Documentation – Migration and Enrichment of the Thessalian Theatre’s Digital Repository.
- Augmented Reality – Virtual Tour System.
- Digital Interactive Showcase.
- Training on the Thessalian Theatre’s Integrated Digital Repository Information System.
Specifically, the material to be digitized and documented as part of the project will include the entirety of the existing physical archive of the Thessalian Theatre and will cover the following:
- 209 theatrical performances, which will be recorded in the Digital Archive along with the accompanying soundtracks for each performance (digital video and audio files, totaling 400 hours).
- 20,000 photographs.
- 200 programs of theatrical performances
- 200 αφίσες θεατρικών παραστάσεων.
- 20 scale models in digital format and floor plans
- 50 set design drawings for digital representation
- 150 theatrical scripts of performed plays, totaling 15,000 pages
- 2 albums, totaling 1,000 pages
- 500 costume pieces for 360° photography
- 50 stage set pieces for digital visualization
The digitization of the Thessalian Theatre’s archive is an investment in its future, showcasing and leveraging its significant contributions both in Greece and abroad, with the aim to:
- increase the visibility and dissemination of the historical, artistic, and cultural heritage preserved for decades in the collections of the Thessalian Theatre.
- highlight the invaluable historical and cultural heritage, while simultaneously promoting and enhancing the artistic and cultural prestige of the Thessalian Theatre.
- gather in a central location and contribute to the long-term preservation and maintenance of all its historical, artistic, and cultural assets
- serve as a foundation for providing value-added services, such as the creation of online artistic and research profiles, etc.
The project “Thessalian Theatre in the Digital Age” falls under the Operational Program “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation 2014-2020” and the Priority Axis “Development of Mechanisms to Support Entrepreneurship.”
