The Municipality of Skyros, in collaboration with DOTSOFT S.A., is undertaking a significant modernisation initiative through the implementation of the project “Digital Transformation Actions of the Municipality of Skyros”. The project is part of the “Digital Transformation Programme 2021–2027” of the Ministry of Digital Governance and is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

Within the framework of the project, a modern digital platform will be developed to support local entrepreneurship and promote Skyros. The Smart City Guide will serve as a comprehensive tool for information, promotion, and connectivity among residents, visitors, and businesses.

The platform will include:

• An online directory of businesses and points of interest,
• Interactive multimedia applications, such as virtual tours and maps with enriched content,
• A system for showcasing offers and events to boost the local economy,
• Citizen engagement tools for submitting proposals, evaluations, and feedback,
• Data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) systems for targeted information and service improvement.

Digital Skyros – A “smart island” with people at its heart

Το έργο στοχεύει στη δημιουργία ενός “έξυπνου νησιού”, όπου οι τεχνολογίες πληροφορικής αξιοποιούνται για την προώθηση της τουριστικής ανάπτυξης, της πολιτιστικής προβολής και της τοπικής επιχειρηματικότητας.
Μέσα από τη νέα ψηφιακή πλατφόρμα, οι πολίτες και οι επισκέπτες θα έχουν εύκολη πρόσβαση σε πληροφορίες και υπηρεσίες του Δήμου, ενώ οι τοπικές επιχειρήσεις θα αποκτήσουν ένα δυναμικό ψηφιακό κανάλι προβολής και συνεργασίας.

This initiative makes a decisive contribution to Skyros’s transition into a digitally mature, participatory, and sustainable local community, while simultaneously highlighting the island’s identity and cultural heritage.
