Aiming to protect the environment and improve the quality of life for its citizens, the Municipality of Tyrnavos, in collaboration with DOTSOFT, is implementing an innovative “smart city” project focused on monitoring environmental conditions and managing water resources in real time.

The project includes the installation of sixteen (16) environmental monitoring stations, as well as a modern water level monitoring system with ten (10) sensors at selected locations throughout the Municipality. The stations will record critical variables such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, concentrations of particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), and gases (O₃, CO, SO₂, NO₂), providing valuable data for air pollution management and timely response to environmental risks.

Through an online monitoring and data analysis system, the Municipality’s services will have access to live visualizations and statistical information on environmental conditions and water levels, facilitating immediate decision-making and effective management of natural resources.

DOTSOFT S.A., with extensive experience in digital transformation projects for Local Government, is responsible for the design, procurement, and installation of the equipment, as well as the development of the monitoring software. The solution is based on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and open-architecture information systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and data security.

The new system lays the foundation for a “smart and green city,” enhancing the Municipality of Tyrnavos’ ability to monitor, predict, and prevent environmental phenomena, while protecting both the natural environment and its citizens.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Interior through the Development and Solidarity Program for Local Government “ANTONIS TRITSIS,” under the Priority Axis “Digital Convergence,” Call AT08, entitled “Smart cities: intelligent applications, systems, and platforms for safety, health and social care, e-governance, education, culture, tourism, and the environment, as well as actions and measures for civil protection and public health, including the prevention of COVID-19 spread.”
