The Municipality of Pylaia–Chortiatis, in collaboration with Dotsoft S.A., is implementing a digital transformation program that brings local government closer to the vision of a “smart city.” Through a series of innovative initiatives, citizens’ daily lives are improved, safety is enhanced, and the operation of municipal services is upgraded.

Smart Public Transport Stops

The Municipality is proceeding with the installation of 10 smart public transport stops at key locations. The stops feature:

• Digital screens providing real-time information on routes and arrivals.
• Audio announcements and an ergonomic design for people with disabilities (PWD).
• Wi-Fi, φορτιστές USB και σύγχρονο φωτισμό LED.
• Autonomous operation with solar panels and environmental indicators (e.g., air quality).

The stops enhance the commuting experience, encourage the use of public transport, and promote sustainable mobility.

Smart Pedestrian Crossings

At four key locations in the Municipality, smart pedestrian crossings are being installed, featuring LED light signals, sensors, and audio alerts. Special functions, such as adjustable crossing times and low-level buttons, facilitate access for people with disabilities (PWD).

The initiative enhances safety, reduces accidents, and encourages walking, contributing to a more human-centered and accessible city.

Traffic Office Organization & Municipal Fleet Management

The Municipality is organizing the Traffic Office and upgrading the management of its vehicle fleet through modern digital tools:

• GPS and telematics for route monitoring.
• Digital tracking, maintenance, and fuel management.
• Operational cost management.

The initiative enhances efficiency, reduces expenses and environmental impact, and improves citizen services.

Centralized Unified Data Management Platform

The Municipality’s unified digital platform consolidates all digital transformation data into a central environment. Leveraging Cloud, Big Data, IoT, and Blockchain technologies, it provides:

• Automated data collection and analysis.
• Visualization through dashboards and reports.
• Transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision making

The platform serves as the municipality’s “nervous system,” enhancing interoperability and fostering collaboration across all departments.

A Leap into the Future

Through these initiatives, the Municipality of Pylaia – Chortiatis takes a decisive step toward digital transformation. In collaboration with Dotsoft S.A., it implements solutions that position the area as a model smart city, providing citizens with enhanced safety, accessibility, sustainability, and innovation in their daily lives.

The project is part of the “Digital Transformation” 2021–2027 Program and is funded by the European Union and national resources through the Public Investment Program. The systems are expected to be available to the public by mid-2026.
