MIX launches a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Lancom’s Balkan Gate in Thessaloniki.

MIX (Milan Internet Exchange), Italy's leading Internet Exchange Point, and Lancom, one of the most prominent cloud, telecommunications, and data center service providers in Greece, proudly announce the activation of a new MIX Point of Presence (PoP) at Balkan Gate, Lancom’s flagship data center in Thessaloniki.

This strategic expansion marks MIX's first official presence in the Balkan region and represents a significant step in its mission to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable interconnection services across Eastern Europe.

The partnership between Lancom and MIX combines complementary strengths: MIX’s trusted relationships with global content providers and its extensive experience in developing and operating high-performance IXPs, with Lancom’s deep local expertise and strong partnerships with ISPs and enterprises across the region.

Mr. George Nolis, CEO of Lancom, stated: "Balkan Gate stands as the ultimate digital hub of the Balkans, and today, with MIX joining our ecosystem, we set a new benchmark for connectivity at both regional and continental levels. This partnership is not merely an expansion – it is a catalyst for digital transformation across the Balkans, Central, and Eastern Europe. Together, we provide businesses, telecom operators, content providers, and local communities with world-class infrastructure, seamless connectivity, and the foundation to lead in the new borderless digital era.

With this new Point of Presence, MIX extends its physical footprint beyond Italy for the first time, where it currently operates four regional exchange hubs (edge IX) in Palermo, Bologna, Rome, and Caserta, alongside its central hub in Milan, which supports more than 420 networks and records daily peak traffic exceeding 3 Tbps.

The MIX hub in Thessaloniki will offer telecommunications providers, ISPs, cloud providers, and regional enterprises low-latency access to a broad ecosystem of networks and services, enhancing connectivity, resilience, and digital competitiveness.

With our new presence in Thessaloniki, MIX reinforces its commitment to delivering open, neutral, and high-performance interconnection beyond national borders. We are proud to partner with Lancom, a leading force in Greece's digital infrastructure, to bring our services closer to key players across the Balkans and beyond," stated Alessandro Talotta, Executive Chairman of MIX.
